Board and Batten, 2023

Large stair cases present a challenge for interior designers due to narrow walls with extreme height. In this home, 3.5” pine boards are installed on 4 separate walls within a stair case that reaches over 20 feet in height. Before installation begins, all walls are measured and multiple spacings are prototyped to determine which layout will be best optimized. While board and batten structures are typically reserved for individual walls, this client envisioned the entire stair case being a focal point of the home.

With over 750 individual precision cuts, this board and batten wall is built to an extent that is seldom seen in any home.
